I too worked at a grocery store, something a little lower than my usual occupation. (Long story).

What really amazed me was that about $50,000 worth of food went from the back of the store and through the cash registers each day. Customers got their food in a fairly efficient way; store made a small profit; people had jobs. I marvelled at that human enterprise to make this all happen.
