I used the Churchill quote to introduce Chapter 3 of my book. I frame it as as an example of why we are too scared to go beyond democracy as we know it. I don't see the quote as something to inspire us to do better than what we already have. I have not observed anyone being inspired in this way.

Even though I have not finished Landamore's book yet, she has left the political parties intact. According to her (and nearly all other political scientists), we just cannot govern without political parties. I am looking forward to how she puts political parties and open democracy together.
