I was aware of your religious inclinations. When done right, religion can be a positive force on the individual and society. But . . . . . .
I left the Catholic Church shortly after my confirmation. I was deeply troubled by going through this process as my mind was on alcohol and parties in those days. I couldn't reconcile these two religions, and the confirmation was only a family obligation I had to endure.
However, I have known Catholics who use their faith to help guide them through life in a positive way. And I have known Catholics where the results are not so effective. But I wonder where they would be if they didn't have this faith.

Same for other religions. Some adherents are good people; some are not.
One of my friends is not affiliated in any religious way. But he has an uncanny way of getting along with just about anyone. People look to his counsel.
