I was in Czechoslovakia shortly after the Velvet Revolution. It was amazing at how the communists could not provide decent lavatory facilities for public use. Just a hole in the floor . . . .

But shortly after the Revolution, the holes got changed out quite quick for real toilets.

But it seems to be a different story in the former CSFR.

In 2006, I attended a conference in Yalta (Crimea). My hotel was modern with toilets. But the university of the conference was still "holes in floors." They had more than enough time to change this out.
