I was living in Czechoslovakia in 1992. Strange to be part of o country that was splitting up. Most people did not want the split, yet it seemed so unstoppable. And yet, in the end, it all seemed to work out OK--for both sides.

Admittedly, I had not heard of Kundera before. Somewhat familiar with Havel. Literature was not a strong interest at that time of my life. A little more now, but . . . . .
