I was on our local recycling board for six years.

We tried to recycle plastics. There is a market for the "neck" plastics (like shampoo bottles). Unfortunately, when our clients heard we were recycling plastics, they brought in all their plastics. In was cost prohibitive for us to sort out the marketable plastics from the landfill plastics. We stopped plastics.

Our clients just want to the do right thing. But--in all this time--why hasn't there been research done to figure out how to recycle plastics?
