I was one of those people who believed that we westerners had conquered much of our racist and misogynistic tendencies. Work still needed to be done, but we were in a much better position than we were 50 years ago.

The Metoo movement convinced me that there is still a lot more work to do. I cannot dismiss the claims so easily as isolated incidents.
