I was quite surprised that FDR used the executive order many times in his tenure. I used to think that he was the great negotiator to get things done in Congress, but I was wrong.

Whether you agree with his agenda or not, FDR was a president who knew how to get things done. I would add Eisenhower and Regan to that category. The others just kind of floated with the times (and maybe that’s OK).

Mr. Trump is trying to get things done, but he lacks the vision, skill, and political intuition to be that kind of president. Plus he brings in a lot of controversy to the job, which his political opponents have used for ammunition. Even Teflon eventually wears down.

Mr. Trump may win the next election, but it will a razor thin like last time. And it could be a wipeout of the R’s. It all depends how many of that 50% of Americans who usually don’t vote come out to vote.

Egads, the political-junkie-within-me is arising again. Time to beat it down!!!!!
