I was watching a documentary about panic in public places. When a few people panic, it becomes more difficult for more rational people to get to safety. Which then drives the rational people more towards panic.

My friend was somewhat condescending to the panicked people. "They should know better, right?"

I could only say until we are put into those situations, we will never know how we will react.

And being tired and cold makes the panic button a little easier to push.
