I was wondering why I had not been enumerated for many years. I thought that I was still on the voters' list because of past enumerations. The cooperation between Revenue Canada and Elections Canada is an interesting twist to conducting a valid election.
The small incentive would be an interesting experiment. It could easily be tied to the tax return.
But I have to wonder about people who don't put much effort to vote. Should be really be encouraging them?
Donating to a political party during election time is also buying votes. It helps fund the party's ground team to identify supporters and get them to the polls. But it also buys negative advertising which discourages soft support from the other party to vote.
