I wasn’t in the room when Mr. Obama pardoned the central bankers, but here is what I thought a fly on the wall could hear:

Mr. Obama: All those big banks that made stupid loans or bought stupid loans from corrupt banks deserve to fail.

Mr. Banker: If you don’t bail us out, my partners at the Federal Reserve will adjust the money supply to ensure this recession goes on longer and stronger. You will get all the blame. So let’s do things our way.

Mr. Obama: OK

Politicians look after the political party first. And that means hobnobbing with the elite. If you don’t that aspect of our system, we need to change the system.
