I watched a fair bit of the first impeachment hearing. While I did not see enough evidence to justify that impeachment, I was amazed at how many references were made to laws written 100 or more years ago.

In my opinion, this antiquity of electoral laws is a big problem in the USA. Miss crossing one "T" or dotting one "I," the results of the whole election can be thrown out--------in the minds of a significant minority of partisan voters.

As I'm reading Medium articles, some states are moving towards the governor and/or state legislatures overturning the vote of the people for the presidential election. It seems there is enough leeway in the federal/state relationship to allow the state to do this. If nothing else, it opens the door for more confusion-----and justification for another coup attempt.

Trying to reform a few antiquated laws won't help much. Hopefully there are a few Americans who understand that it is time to build a new democracy.
