I went to the website for a brief visit. It seemed like a typical libertarian publication.
Libertarianism should hypothetically work--if everyone had a libertarian mindset. Unfortunately, human beings are different and more complex than the 'ologies and 'isms seem to suggest. What works good for a small percentage of the people might not work well for most. And when the "most" feel disenfranchised, either there is a breakdown in law and order or we have massive police state trying to control them.
Democracies are a compromise between the various demographics of a society. In exchange for all groups giving up some of their freedom and liberty, there are laws to apply and enforce. And in a democracy, people just some kind of say in those laws.
Part of this social deal is paying taxes. If a person lives in a society that allows the creation and enjoyment of wealth, taxes are the means to pay for that society. This is part of the deal.
For 24 years, I have been trying to get people to build a new kind of democracy, one without any political parties. I believe that political parties are the illness that makes a concept like libertarianism look attractive for some.
Although it seems I have been beating a dead horse all these years, I think the chances of getting my new democracy together are better than any nation willingly taking the libertarian route.
