I went to your website. I'll just say that circa 1980--as I was graduating from petroleum engineering school--I felt we needed to increase fuel taxes (a lot more) as a means to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels---and rethink how we were doing things. Had the world taken my suggestion back then . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I was on the board of our local recycling society for six years--and I'm still watching this organization. One of my frustrations is how little government is doing towards better recycling. We are essentially recycling the same way as we were 20 years ago. There has been no progress.

While I'm not exactly in agreement with the hair-on-fire approach to environmental issues, I also recognize that this approach seems to be the best way to get attention.

And like it or not, our political leaders and institutions are only finding the political balance between all the disparate groups of society. If they don't find that balance, they become "unelected."

But what if our political leaders could really lead? And do things we don't want, like raise fuel taxes by $1 per liter?

Your replacement government would still require some rules for elections and holding politicians accountable. We could continue to use the western democratic model. But isn't this the system that got us to our current position? Or we could think of another way.

I am offering another way.
