I wish you luck in trying to change the current system. Unfortunately I have been on the inside (in Canada) and I know it can’t be fixed. Political parties are about people trying to maximize their status, influence, and power — and that alone creates a lot of dysfunction. Any politician who operates mostly on an altruistic modus operandi will usually find one adjective to describe them: unelected!

The frustrations in American politics are a little higher than other western democracies. But be rest assured that the citizens in these other countries are also apathetic, cynical, and distrusting. There is still is a too big divide between the rich and poor in all these countries. In other words, solutions are not found in France or Norway. Nor are they found in some charismatic leaders.

The people need to lead themselves — and realize the chains of western democracy are holding them back.
