If I recall correctly, housing prices did collapse in the USA after 2008. Many people just walked away from their mortgages.

And if I recall correctly, Canada experience a smaller collapse in housing prices as the US recession affected us. We had better banking regulations, so our banks weren't making as masy silly loans. No Canadian bank failed.

What we should have done is had better banking regulations. The USA will have to learn that lesson again.
