If Mr. Zelensky is smart, he should retire after the war. He will have a great place in history.

Mr. Churchill did become the prime minister again in the 1950s--and got turfed out in the next election. He was just not a peace-time politician.

His war politicking abilities were forged by big mistakes he made in WW1. Sometimes learning by experience is costly, especially for other people.

Isn't it strange that very few political scientists ever enter politics? It seems to me that they should be the best trained for the job.

As a former insider of a Canadian political party, I have seen some good people find their way into the legislatures. But I have also seen fools, alcoholics, and the easily corruptible win the party nomination and the general election. In other words, our political processes are not screens for the better people.
