If we are to accept a continuum rather than a black vs. white reality, we could say that there is a lot of cult-like behavior in many places. But that behavior is not as strong as in the Jim Jones case.

So we can say there are some attributes of a cult in the Trump Party. But I don’t see Mr. Trump trying to convince his followers to empty their bank accounts and abandon their families.

And I would admit that when I was in a political party (in Canada), we too had a few characteristics of cult.

The ability of Mr. Trump’s to stick with him is amazing. Most could and would not work directly this kind of boss, yet they like what he is doing. I suspect that some have invested so much of the ego in their support that it is hard to admit that their minds have been changed. I suspect these followers will eventually and quietly back off from their position, hoping no one will notice.
