If we look at the vanquished powers of WW2, we see two differet approaches. Germany looked itself in the eye and said "We f****d up." Japan, on the other hand, has not made this connection, preferring to see the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombings as symbols of oppression.

Canada is going through an interesting awakening with the mainstream culture's relationship with the First Nations. It will be interesting to see where this relationship is 20 years from now.

We really need to revisit our dirty past. The USA just doesn't want to go there.
