I'm coming into this article without a great understanding of elections in Singapore. So bear with me.

It seems to me that the threshold to gain seats is about 10.5% of the vote. Then the article talks about constituency elections. So I was confused. Is Singapore a PR system or a FPTP?

It seems to me this article is a bit of a partisan piece for the PAP, justifying their immense leverage of popular vote into seats in parliament. Parties have a natural instinct for making the rules to their favor.

True, there is no superior form of democracy. But whatever version is implemented, it needs to be seen as legitimate to the people. If not, seeds of unrest are being sown.
