I'm from the petroleum industry. But even back in the 1980s, I could see that we could not continue releasing energy that had been stored for millions of years ago--without some consequence.

For sure, more people are waking up.

But had we taken on a period of transisition 40 years ago, we would be much further ahead. But our system of governance could not lead us there.

In the meantime, governments in Canada are reducing gasoline taxes to give people a break from inflation. I'm not sure enough people have woken up.
