I’m not exactly sold on your absence of resource extraction on our future space colonies.

From an economics point, the tourism industry requires many citizens with disposable income. People barely feeding their families and paying rent are not tourists. We have to have a vibrant economy first.

And all those spaceships leaving Earth and coming back are going to need iron, aluminum, lithium, copper, etc. Being able to mine them somewhere else is going to take pressure off the effects of resource extraction on Earth.
