In 1982, I graduated as a petroleum engineer. I loved working in this industry, but I also believed that the world needed to consciously and deliberating wean itself off fossil fuels.

In 1986, I joined a political party AND became an active volunteer--in hopes that I could affect some change in that direction (and a few other directions). In 1992, I quit. I understood that there were internal forces that prevented parties (at least the successful ones) from making the right decisions at the right time in the right way--even if I rose higher in the party.

But somehow I invented another system of governance. In 1997, I started putting it down on paper.

Your article refers a lot about "Change the System". Tiered Democratic Governance is about changing the system.
