In 2015, Canadian prime minister Stephan Harper called an election. Polls for his party were high. His opposition looked disorganized. He was expected to win. But something happened. He lost. Politics is often unpredictable.

And he willingly stepped aside to let the new leader take over.

Human nature says that once a powerful person has acquired power, that person does not relinqush it. History has many, many examples of leaders hanging on long after it becomes evident that they no longer can run things well.

Somehow, we have learned how to rise above our human nature.

Democracy is not human nature.

The early builders of the TDG will have to rise above some aspects of human nature. But as they are learning their new ways, these new ways will become cultural.

Just like how democracy became cultural in England after 1688 and the USA after 1792. There were naysayers for these systems.
