In Canada, provincial parties are formed with provincial laws and federal parties are formed with federal laws. I believe they are all fairly similar.

I'm pretty UK is still first-past-the-post. No PR there.

When Canada became independent in 1867, we more or less inherited the Westminster system. Westminster was pretty much established in our colonial governance.

The province of BC has tried to change from Westminster to PR--three times in 20 years. The voters keep turning it down in referenda. Ironically, the provincial political parties want PR!
