In case the Medium gods are watching this thread, I will make my case that the royalties of articles in the pubs should be split 80/20 between the writer and the pub owner.

Pubs should be regarded as a filter for quality. Pub owner find the readers, but owners have standards the writers have to abide by. A little $$$$ coming into the pub owner's hands will enhance this dynamic.
