In his Foundation Series, SF writer Isaac Asimov prophesized that democracy has a shelf life of two to three centuries. Then such a society reverts back to an oligarchy.

One thing I liked about this article is that it gives a bit more history to the trend, as it pertains to the USA. Mr. Trump didn't come out of nowhere--and then January 6 happened.

The nature of the political party is, in itself, quite feudalistic. The candidates offered on the ballots were elected by party members, who do not constitute a majority (or cross section) of society.

It's almost a case of: "Yes, common people, we will give you democracy. But you can only vote for these people."

Sorry, but the Democrats are just as guilty as the Republicans. Same goes for other political parties in western countries.

It is time to get rid of all political parties.
