In many ways, George Carlin was right.
But he never offered a solution.
And he always "punched up," taking care not to offend his audience. I don't recall that he said anything like "Maybe it's us." He made his shekels by punching up.
We laughed, but we were not motivated to do anything about it. He might have even been working for the nebulous THEY in his monologues.
