In my home province of Alberta, we have a new premier. Her public messaging has been to reaffirm the convictions of her base. Outwardly, she is not governing for other groups in Alberta.

As I was writing this series, I realized that the power of "political leverage" in Alberta--and much of the western world--has changed from wealthy liberals to poor conservatives. The conservatives have learned how to game the political system to their advantage, but they are just doing what the other side has been doing for several decades.

While the political leverage has shifted from one group of plebes for another, the uber-wealthy still have their political leverage.

It really is time for a new way.
