In my home town, there are a bunch of older fellows in a rock band covering 50s and 60s music. The music is great--and they do get about 10 gigs a year. But they don't have the edge. They need their regular jobs to make a living.

But are they ever having fun!

The C&W singer I described can still enjoy her hobby as a nightclub singer and not be so harmful to her family. Maybe that is the decision she eventually came to.

Someone really needs to write a book of when to cut the dream off (or make it more realistic).
