In the advent of an apocalypses, the survivalists will have a higher chance of "surviving" in a very cruel world than those of us unprepared. But most survivalists will still die for the simple reason that their preparedness will make them a target.

It would be interesting to a cost/benefit analysis of being prepared for an apocalypse. It might suggest that it is better to put our efforts into fixing our current world.
