In the days of George Floyd, one analyst on CNN made an astute point:

In the USA the previous year, there were 250 million interactions between police officers and citizens.

Obviously there were many white officer and black citizen interactions that did not go wrong. That statistic did not come up again (from what I could see).

The USA needs to confront its ugly past. But the goal should be empowerment, not victimhood.

A good counsellor works toward empowerment, so the client can move into a better life situation.
