In the past 2-3 years, I have been using this list as my ideology:

1) There are situations where government should leave decisions to individuals and let them live the consequences.

2) There are situations where government needs to act collectively to better society.

3) The decision between 1 & 2 shall be with due democratic process.

4) All decisions must be monitored and changed if needed.

No 'ology or 'ism to guide thinking here. But maybe "practicalism" fits here.

"How does this work!" Such a great question many political junkies should be asking.
