Inside any political party, there is a lot of jostling for positions to gain or improve status, influence, and power. This is what makes political parties so dysfunctional.
The rank-and-file Republicans may be solidly behind Mr. Trump or maybe the Trump 2.0. But there are a lot of middle managers in that party trying usurp each other.
If the Republicans do manage to turn the USA into a one-party state, which means throwing the high ranking Democrats (and popular activists) in prison for treason, they will start turning on themselves in a bigger way. And the Repubilcans who wear nice clothes to work will throw the jeans-and-t-shirt Republicans under the bus when they are no longer needed.
No, there is more disunity than unity as all political parties.
It is time for a new way.
