Interesting take. I just use this phrase to emphasize the importance of lots of practice--even if one has lots of talent--to attain an elite level of accomplishment.

There are a few people in my life who believe lots of talk of accomplishing things is what is needed most. I sometimes cite the 10,000 hour rule to bring them closer to reality. It doesn't work. But neither does telling them that they will be successful just by thinking successfully.
