It is a bit of a paradox. Sometimes it’s hard to let other people into our lives.

There is a Canadian mockumentary called “The Trailer Park Boys.” Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles are low-lifes who have various addiction issues and are in and out of jail. One Christmas, they are invited into a church to celebrate. They come in drunk and cause a big disturbance. It’s hard to include people like that in your community.

But it’s also interesting to know that Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles have formed their own community, where they get their own social support.

I think it takes a bit of courage to invite someone in from the sidelines.
