It seems to me that we need some societal training on dealing with probabilistic outcomes. Determinism is so much easier to teach.
In Chapter 4 of my book, I discuss the consultative approach to group decision-making. This process should generate perspectives from individuals who are a little outside the groupthink. Rather than dismiss these thinkers as outliers, a consulative approach should welcome these thoughts. Then the group can ask questions like 1) What's the probabalbility of this outcome? and 2) What's the consequence if that outcome does happen?
