It's been a while since I researched this time. So my recollection is not exactly clear. And I might have sensationalized things.
One of results of the 1848 revolutions was a more acquiescence of the aristocracy to educate the children of the lower classes. Some of the aristocratic wealth was used to set up schools for the workers' children. I think the more pure libertarians would regard this wealth transfer as coercion.
Other concessions were granted. The aristocracy had a choice: either give up some of their wealth and political power----or find all of it taken away.
When citizens can see the possibility of a better for themselves or their children, they are less likely to take to the streets.
