I’ve been alcohol free for 26 years. I can’t say that I saw an immediate effect from quitting. I suffered from depression before and after. But I think about 10 years of being alcohol free gave me some extra judgment to finally seek some help.
I used to be recreational user of marijuana. But following one night of a few tokes, I realized I just could not get this drug out of system like I could with a couple of beer. I wanted to be a high performing individual, so I quit right there.
Alcohol and other mind-altering substances have different effects on different people. But even those who don’t believe they are affected (and may be mostly right), they are being altered in slight ways for the worse. It’s best not to partake PERIOD. There is a life without this crap!
