I've been having an interesting conversation with another Medium contributor. I told that more young people are likely to die of a motor vehicle accident than Covid-19, yet no one is talking about shutting down highways.

I believe the major impetus behind the lockdown is the medical professions prediction that hospitals would have been swamped trying to save people. This turns out to be true. But the problem could have been resolved by 1) having adequate medical supplies in warehouses beforehand and 2) temporary emergency hospitals just for Covid-19 patients (think of big tents).

The media just fell into the medical profession's narrative. But we were so unprepared when we should have been prepared. Most western nations are guilty.
