I’ve been on an a few internet forums that are echo chambers of left or right. And I’ve been on a few forums that actually had some vibrant discussion with leftees and rightees pecking at each other.

Medium seems different. I’ve only been here a couple of months, but I find it interesting that very few conservative commentators ever post an original article here. Yes they offer responses to articles they don’t like — and often that response is well thought out, but I haven’t seen any real original conservative articles.

Most conservatives don’t like government run social assistance programs. Conservatives would like to abolish them and let private charity deal with the truly needy. I like to postulate that if this does happen, there will be far more former long term welfare users turn to petty crime to survive than actually go out and find a job. Strange, I never find anyone disagreeing with me on this point. And the thread goes silent!

I think I am coming the conclusion that conservative is really not defensible from a logical perspective.
