I've been on Medium for four years--and seldom seen articles of the conservative side. So I have concluded that Medium leans heavily to the left side of the political spectrum.

I recently signed on to a conservative pub, and this article is my first read from this new following of mine.

Lots of points worthy of more discussion. Using 1984 as a lodestone is something many people can relate to.

However, the 1984 references apply to both sides of the political spectrum. Neither side wants hard questions to be asked, just go along with their crowd, which is obviously the truth. Which then makes the other side as purveyor of lies.

In other words, both sides can claim Orwell was talking about the other side.

This particular article uses a gish-galloping technique of debate/discussion. This means throw so many points that it becomes very difficult to refute anything. If you choose just one point, you might get more discussion on this one point.
