I was in Czechoslovakia (and later CR and SR) shortly after the fall communism. The presidential role was mostly ceremonial, but the president(s) said things that needed to be said, but a partisan politician could not say. No official power, but the spotlight was on. The president(s) used that light. An interesting dynamic.

I don't believe the US system is reformable any more. It's been more than 50 years since the last amendment to the constitution.

It's time to build a new way.
