Is it possible that 3-4 media outlets agreed to withhold exposure of Project 2025 until it would maximize the electoral success of the Democrats?

This would imply that they can work in collusion and kind of know what they are doing when trying to shape political outcomes.

Which is kind of sinister. If they actually engineered events to turn out as well as they seem to be going, what will they do next?

Call me naive, but it seems like fear of the Republican brownshirts is a more plausible reason.

But we will likely never know for sure.
