I've never heard of this show. It sounds like this Longmire portrays the man we should be--or not be.

I wonder if the writers wrote this TV series to cater to both mentalities.

I remember reading that Norman Lear developed "All in the Family" to show the silliness of men like Archie Bunker. But men like Archie Bunker thought Archie Bunker was a hero figure. They enjoyed the show just as much as the fans of Michael Sivik (meathead), but for different reasons.
