I've taken a look at Substack. It seems to be a clone of Medium. Methinks I'll get the same traction there as here----and the other 10 or so other forums I have tried.
I'm on Mastodon. Looks like a clone of Twitter. I've got about 50 followers, but they seldom repost my links to my Medium articles or go to these articles.
Despite my low traction, I still have engaged with enough people here to be considered a reliable focus group. They don't want an alternative democracy.
If you have any other ideas, let me know. Practically speaking, it looks like I should fold up my TDG tent altogether.
I'm kind of in transition towards an involuntary retirement. I'd like a few more working years, but life is a bit confounding these days. Medium is passing the time away, and one day I just might get lucky with finding the right influencer. My topic is very unique!
And for some reason, I still seem to find original ideas for the TDG that I can write about.
At present, I have about six articles on the drafting table. At least could be published teday. But I wait until the traction of my last article subsides before publishing a new one.
Zone will have two articles in the next month!
---------------
I do see your articles on my feed but not often. So you are not totally blacklisted.
There have been a few times where I've had four or more great-looking articles on my feed. Trying to "save them for later" is a bit confusing. One click, and a whole new feed shows up.
Maybe that is why there is usually so much fluff on my feed. I click maybe 1 out of 25. But when I do click, I'm usually not disappointed. At least, I'm not disappointed that I lost a potentially good article to read. So the psychologists for Medium might be putting up the fluff for a good reason.
I believe there is switch that raises or lowers the frequency of articles being on feeds. It might be set by the algorithms or by Medium gatekeepers. I think you and I are in the "lower frequency" category. In my case, the switch is justified in that the plebes have said they don't want to hear about an alternative democracy.
I was around when Medium let go of funding for some its pubs, which was the same time The Atlantic and New York Post disappeared. A reader could rely on getting quality writing from these places. To me, the filters don't seem to be working any more.
There is a fellow who has set up two high quality pubs: Ellemeno and Rome. He doesn't want any TDG stuff, but I enjoy reading articles from there. You might be a good fit.
