I listened to several analysts who described the impeachment process as mostly a political act: i.e. "we don't like what the prez is doing, out he goes." So why bother when the outcome in the Senate was known beforehand?

I watched a fair bit of the first hearing. The Dems were bringing up all sorts of old laws to justify the trial. Putting a legal touch to this proceeding did not help.

You are probably more right than I about the hush money trial. Still sounds like a relative misdemeanor to me.

If Mr. Cohen could be convicted, why not convict Mr. Trump at the same time?

My two points:

1) Bringing all these cases together at the height of the election race supports the witch hunt idea.

2) The fact that the USA (and indirectly, the rest of the world) has to go through all these trials is a sign that we need a new way.
