John Griswold: I remember an interview with Rush Lumbaugh (sp?) shortly after Obama got elected. He eloquently expressed his desire to see this president fail and would work towards Obama not accomplishing a damn thing in his tenure.
Rush is influential with many followers.
It doesn’t matter who the Democrats nominate. Whoever gets the job will be hated by 40% of the population. The reverse is also true (Democrats will hate whoever the R’s nominate), but to a lesser extent.
And we have the same thing in Canada, but to a lesser extent. But during this crisis, Prime Minister Trudeau seems to getting lots of respect from his political enemies.
Rather than all this hating, we need a system that trusts and respects our elected representatives and the institutions they are working in.
