John. My knowledge of American politics is the the big cities use political parties, whereas the cities Canada don't. I kind of knew that some local elections were non-partisan, but I did not know to how far down the parties go.

The Jefferson/Hamilton divide is a result of two arrogant men who thought they absolutely knew how the world would turn out if the country took a certain direction and not another. Sorry, no one is that smart! Ever! These men were ready to sacrifice the non-partisan spirit of the constitution in order to implement their ideas. To have their ideas triumph over the other side, they formed factions to get them electoral victory.

Why could they not have had a spirited debate and just let the other legislators make the decision? Can you imagine the chaos of a rural county decision's to replace a road grader now or a couple years from now turns into two political parties?

This arrogance needs to be weeded out in the TDG. I spend a lot of time explaining "consultation" to make the TDG work. Consultation requires representatives to accept that they are not all-knowing. They need to express their opinions and perspectives, but also be willing to listen the other representatives. Eventually better decisions will result than those from strong-willed players.

If the culture of consultation is integral to the TDG, then Jefferson and Hamilton would not rise too high.

Thanks for the comment. I think it might inspire me to write an article on this early American divide.
