John: You are right in so many ways.

One thing that many political junkies don't understand that many citizens do not wear their politics as intensely as the junkies.

My work as a political worker was mostly to identify voters for my party and get them to the polls on election day. This is the election machine that can win close elections. In some ways, it is kind of sad that these low-motivated voters need all this gentle prodding. In some ways, it's kind of scary that these voters can make the difference.

In November 2018, I kind of gave up promoting the TDG. But a fellow from a G+ political group gave me an interesting idea on how to promote this concept in a different way: i.e., write a novel. So that is what I did. The first novel was done a year ago. Two more are close to finishing. But this angle too does not appear to be working.

I have another project on the go these days, and it is not related to the TDG. My software developer came into a life crisis, so the project has been put on hold for almost two months. Getting active on Medium seemed like my best option for my spare time. I managed to get 40 more followers this month. I have three more of these "TDG vignettes" which didn't take me long to write. Basically I just spoke my mind. When these articles are posted, time to give Medium a break. My software developer says he will be back to work in a week.

My wife has taken on various household construction projects and turning into a pretty good handy"man". Today she was putting in a new faucet for the kitchen sink and was screwing wood with Phillips headed screws (4-point star). I told her to use Roberts headed screws (square) because they are so much easier to work with--and less likely to damage with torque.

Roberts and Phillips were invented to replace the slotted screw and screwdrivers, which had a lot of slippage. Roberts is Canadian and was invented first. Phillips is American. American manufacturers did not want to be dependent on a Canadian patent, so they went a different route circa 1900.

We Canadians are forced to use Phillips a little too often because too many things are manufactured out of Canada. Americans seldom see a Roberts screw. The rest of world tends to use Phillips to appease the American customer.

Sometimes the better ideas just don't go far.

And there is still far too many slotted screws out there. I have no idea why. Terrible screw head. Or maybe "totally obsolete" is a better word.

I think you can see the analogy. I can only put out the best product that I can with my limited resources. If someone else were getting some traction with a similar political idea, I probably would not have started. But no one else seems to be going in this party-less direction.

I think I''ll have the "Van Gogh" syndrome of being famous after death. But I'm really not that crazy. Both ears still on.
